Holika Dahan And Holi Festival Celebration

Holika Dahan falls just one Day Before the Holi Festival,which is the festival of colours.which has a great cultural significance.

The Holika Dahan tradition came from the story from the Indian Hindu scriptures. 

The Story

There was a Rakhyas King(generally called  Evil peoples clan's King) or we can say Demon King (but Not Exactly like that). Who wanted to take revenge from Bhagwaan(Lord) Vishnu because Bhagwaan Vishnu in its Varah Avatar had Killed his brother Hiranyakhs another Rakhyas who had once drowned the Land in the ocean, 

And saved the Land from the Ocean. 

So By taking the Advice from the rakhyas

Rishi Shukracharya Hiranyakashyap Did very very Hard Tapasya and Got Boon from Lord Brahma.

And the Boon was that no creature made by Brahma can kill him.. No man and no animal, Not with any weapons , Not on the Ground Or The sky, Not inside  the house not outside, Not in the Day and not in the Night. This boon made him like an immortal person and He started  comparing him self to God(Bhagwan VVishnu and with his fear he made rule that every body would worship him and those Who worship Bhagwan(Lord) Vishnu 

Get Killed by Him Or torturd to death. 

The twist comes here when his son from the Birth was a big devotee(bhakta) of bhagwan Vishnu he Always continuously chants Bhagwan Vishnus's Name "Om namoh Bhagwate Vasudevaay".. which irritates the Rakhyas King Hiranyakashyap.. His own son chant the person(Bhagwan Vishnu) who killed his elder Brother Hiranyakhs. Due to this hate and also because he wanted to be worshipped by the people, He tried  to kill His son by throwing from the peak of the mountain but his son Prahllad saved by bhagwan vishnu by catching him on Lotus. Then Hiranyakashyap tried another Different ways to kill his son Prahallad but because of his devotion towards bhagwan Vishnu and due his continuous chanting of Bhagwan Vishnus name Bhagwan Vishnu saved him from evey Danger. This frustrated Hiranyakashyap. 

By Seeing the Frustration of his brother Hiranyakashyap Singhika(Holika) adviced himto give her Prahallad and both would sit on the  burning fire and as she had the Boon that fire won't burn her so she would survive the fire. But Prahallad would  burn in the fire.. Hiranyakashyap did according to Holika . Holika sat on burning fire with Prahallad to kill him but due bhagwan Vishnus's Blessings Prahallad survived the fire but due to her bad intention her boon didn't work and she Burnt in the fire.

The Killing Of Hiranyakashyap

This Further frustrated and angered the Rakhyas King Hiranyakashyap

who with anger he pulled out his sword and told Prahallad to Call his Bhagwaan(God) to save him and Then asked his son where is God ? 

Prahalld told him his God is present every where even within him and he has to leave his ego and jealousy towards God to see him..Angered by his son's word he asked his son Prahallad of his God is even present in the Pillar his Son replied with yes then he ordered his soldier's to fire the Pillar so that the God if present there would die, but as nothing comes out he orederd soldier's tie his son Prahalled to the hot pillar so that he would burn but nothing happened to him because of his devotion and chanting of bhagwan Vushnu's name. 

Then he get more angered due to his son continuous chanting of "Om bhagvate Vasudevay" He tried to kill his son by the son then bhagwan Narsimha come out breaking the Pillar, he was Half man and Half animal.

 Then God fight with him(Hiranyakashyap) and took him to the gate which was a place not inside of the house and not outside of the house and kept him on his lap which was a place not in the sky and not on the ground killed him by ripping apart his stomache with his sharp finger nail which is not  a weapon and time was evening which was neither day not night so by destroying his boon which he got from Lord Brahma by full filling all the conditions and Killed Hiranyakashyap.
